No, this is not about the Pixel movie but related to the Dori character in that movie.
First, this is my opinion of the effects of THC products from my personal experience, but as a warning to others, both on and off the spectrum of autism.
Recently, I noticed severe issues with my sleep that may make me very forgetful and frustrated during the middle of the day. The sleep issue is not new, and I had it for more than a decade. In January 2020, I went cold turkey on over-the-counter ZZZQuil and been trying more natural source like Melatonin and initially had some success but it got worse in last year or so because I started taking Delta 9 which contains THC. In early April 2024, my mental and physical state got severe, and I could sleep. I knew it would be a bad thing to take more Delta 9, so I went to local CDB store where I purchased it and discussed it, and the salespersons sold me some CDB stuff which made it worse. They must have known; I was questioning the effects and trying to keep me lured in the addiction by giving me a bunch of free samples. But this did not fool me, and I had to stop it at any cost. In the last year, I spent at least $1000. I really got scared because I researched and found that THC in your blood can cause you to have DUI if pulled over and, even worse, fail a drug test.
This failed to solve the same issue that I had with ZZZQuil, but this is worse and decided that I must destroy all this stuff and find another solution. I was concerned that this was affecting my driving, and it would drive me broke. I jokingly called the situation the “Dori Effect” and was driving to find a solution.
If you look at the side effects of Delta 9, you will see why I had so much trouble. Just search for “Delta 8 vs. Delta 9 vs. Delta 10 — What’s the Difference?” and you notice it has insomnia and pain which explains two of major issues. Since I got off, I could sleep without, and over-the-counter drugs and my pain has reduced. Oddly, it states low appetite, which is the opposite of what happens to me and that seems to happen when getting off it. I lost 10 pounds in the two weeks since stopped using Delta 9, but I gained almost 20 pounds while using it. One strange thing I noticed while taking Delta 9, was that I had embarring cases of diarrhea which have stopped now. I am now losing weight because of this change.
I started finding natural ways that are not drug related for my solution and struggled to find until I found that magnesium could be the key and it improved it. I also wanted to detox my body from the THC build up that made me struggle with sleep. I ended up taking take nothing at night for sleep issues. In the last week, I also removed all sleep related stuff, including melatonin, and added Brandy / Cherries to my nightly routine. Keep in mind that I am personally not an alcohol drinker and rarely have drinks. But with Brandy, this is only a little at night and not in public. I did a personal experience with Delta 8 and later some alcohol that cause me to major paranoid effects in 2021 and a family Christmas party.
One thing that is interesting to me is that I seem to dream more and in fact I don’t remember that dream much at all with Delta 9. The “Dori Effect” where I have short-term memory loss appears to be almost 100% gone and my mind is thinking better and more creative.
But then, in the middle of the night a week later, I woke up and my right knee was hurting badly, and it typically has a dull ache all the time. I also noticed that I could not bike as much and struggle to walk my dog and even driving. So, I researched it and found that the problem is likely Hamstring Tendonitis and arranged for a physical therapist. I also changed my eating habits and lost 10 pounds and planned to lose another 10 pounds and increase the strength in my knees. I 100% believe with what I am doing now that both my sleep issues and leg issues will resolve by the end-of-year or before that. After 4 sessions with a physical therapist, my leg is better, and I have the techniques to improve it for the future.
Even though it cost me $1000, and I wasted $300 of the stuff when I went cold turkey on this drug, I am thankful for this event. If the store did not push extra stuff on me and give me free samples, this is an addiction and never would have thought of going cold turkey on it. One additional factor that led to obliterating it is that my Galaxy Watch stops recording sleep each night. Currently, I am debating stopping using it completely and going back to standard watch. I recently got my Tissot watch fixed and no longer use my Galaxy Watch except to find my phone occasionally. If Samsung disables that functionality, I will completely shut down the watch forever.
The key to this and I also believe that this applies to autism is that environmental effects have a much better effect in resolving issues than drugs ever will be. As an added benefit, this approach saves you a ton of money.
Update 06/27/2024
This is the update to my Dory story. Basically, it’s been a couple months. And I’m still not taking anything, including MSM stuff or any type of melatonin or anything. Any common stuff to take at night? My right calf pain has gone, and my right ankle hurts, but the pain is getting better using similar massage techniques that used on my calves. Ever since I got off Delta 9, I sleep better, and I noticed I dream more. And I’m just more relaxed and I don’t have the tension that I had before. This is a major improvement, and it shows to me that getting off any drug improves my health, including sleep. Being off melatonin is amazing because I had the problem since the early 2000s. I’m very thankful for it and the incident with CDB / Delta 9 is such a blessing for me.
This has shown me that other health issues I had are also side effects of taking CDB / Delta 9. I had cases of diarrhea, which I thought was because of other products like ISAGenix Bea, Cardio Miracle and even ice cream. Ever since I got off Delta 9, the diarrhea has gone away. I also realized that I do not have to go to the bathroom at night, which I thought related to getting older with the prostate. In fact, I found drinking more water helps.
